We want this conference to be the next best thing to visiting Narnia for yourself.

The Desiring God 2013 National Conference, September 27–29 in Minneapolis, is taking up the theme “The Romantic Rationalist: God, Life, and Imagination in the Work of C.S. Lewis.” Plenary speakers are John Piper, Douglas Wilson, Phil Ryken, Kevin Vanhoozer, and Randy Alcorn. And now, in addition to four Friday afternoon seminars, we’re introducing a dozen 10-minute mini-talks inspired by Lewis’s life and work.

We’re calling these “small talks,” well, because they’re small compared to the 60-minute plenaries and 45-minute seminars. We’re asking our small-talkers to sound off for just 10 minutes or less, and we’ll be keeping a tight clock. So here are twelve more small reasons to do what it takes to join us this Fall. These are our titles and speakers for the “small talks”:

A Quick Look at the Best of Screwtape (Devin Brown)

Why Lewis Wouldn’t Write for Christianity Today (Dan Dewitt)

Longing in Lewis’s Life and Writing (Lyle Dorsett)

Was Lewis a Revolutionary or Dinosaur? (Colin Duriez)

Fed up with Life and Ready to Write (David Mathis)

Pizza! Pizza! Lewis at Little Caesars (Jonathan Parnell)

Latecomer to Narnia (Noël Piper)

A Child’s Heart and a Grown-up’s Head (Matt Reagan)

Jack’s Typewriter (Tony Reinke)

Lewis Against Hipsters — And Those Who Despise Them (Joe Rigney)

How Lewis Changed the Way I Worship (Sam Storms)

The Lie of Realism (N.D. Wilson)

Panel Discussion: Wilson, Duriez, and Dorsett (Dewitt moderator)

The early-bird registration rate is open through next Friday, July 26. For the full conference information, including the plenary and seminar titles, see our events page. For more on C.S. Lewis from Desiring God:
